Hannah (Grade 10) has learned a lot about the impact of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) through her mom's work at Shelter Movers who help those experiencing IPV find safe homes. Through a project for Hannah's civics class, she needed to research a local issue and how it plays a role in the community, which then got her thinking about how to prevent IPV from happening in the first place.
This brought her to the Youth Creativity Fund and started her research on managing and regulating emotions and looking into how young children might benefit from early intervention. Hannah developed resources with workbooks, posters, and educational material to give to younger level classes at her old elementary school to test out her solution.
Great work Hannah! While we might not know the full effects of early-intervention, we have been so impressed by your passion and resourcefulness to tackle a complex issue in the community!
