RythmHacks

On September 1-3, 2023, A group of high school students held a Hack-athon at the Accelerator Centre. At RythmHacks, teams of four or less had the weekend to create and code a project of their choosing. This could be a website, app, game, robot, etc. which would then be pitched to a panel of judges.

On their website they stated: "We know from first-hand experience that finding tech opportunities can be one of the hardest things to do in high school. That's why we've made RythmHacks into a high-school only hackathon, tailored to beginners. We hope that you'll learn a lot and that attending RythmHacks will help you launch your career."

These youth approached the Youth Creativity Fund seeking funding to help with some logistical pieces of the weekend, including food and t-shirts for 100+ participants.

One of the students Jeffery had this to say after the event; "I learned a lot about organizing a successful event, coordinating hundreds of people, and handling logistical details. I also learned a lot about communicating with others (especially businesses), which will help me in the future with other events/opportunities. I'm most proud of the fact that we were able to inspire and motivate over 100 high schoolers in our area."

Great job team on a successful event!
